I met a lovely lady named Joy in another hair salon in Rockville, MD. She raved about her regular hair stylist Pilar, who, unfortunately, was out of town and she desperately needed her hair done. Joy’s hair was georgeous! It was obviously healthy and well-nourished with a natural brilliance. According to her, Pilar was the only one who truly knew how to take care of Joy’s hair. So I was curious and decided to call Pilar hoping to find out how it is that one hair stylist can make a customer so eager to refer her services. I soon realized why…Pilar was the best of what one would expect from a Latin woman: charming, jovial, and full of life! I was lucky to meet with Pilar Padro and her business partner Jill Florey at their chic multicultural salon, Hair Envy & Co, to talk about all things hair. Still can’t believe how much fun we had at the Multi-Textures Hair Workshop with Felicia Leatherwood and Gidore.com.f 
Over 200 women attended the highly anticipated event and were treated to delicious snacks (especially the samosas!)
The food was delicious
The fabulous woman behind planning for this event was Lukwesa Barnes from www.gidore.com. She did a great job as host and, best of all, she gave what so many women of color in the UK asked for: haircare knowledge to give them the power to cherish their tresses.

It started out with an introduction from Lukwesa followed by the famous Loving Your Hair with Care Workshop by celebrity hairstylist Felicia Leatherwood. Women received valuable tips n’ tricks on how to better care for their hair with a mind, body, and soul in twist. But this wasn’t just a boring lecture! Oh no..it was super interactive with Q&A and frequent laughter from the audience.
Shea Moisture products
What’s a haircare workshop without a little retail therapy? Product junkie or not, attendees flocked to the vendor tables to get their hands on Shea Moisture, KeraCare, Phillip Kingsley,Jane Carter Solution, and other brands.
- Time for a little retail therapy!
After the Q&A and a brief intermission, 
Jane Carter and KeraCare demonstrated how to style curly hair and how to get a silky straight look. Meanwhile, some lucky ladies got one-on-one advice from Felicia Leatherwood as she analyzed their scalp. And the grand finale: everyone received goodie bags with lots of free samples from Jane Carter Solution, Koils by Nature, KeraCare and Koils by Nature!
